The American Land Title Association (ALTA) has identified a breach of approximately 600 title and non-title company records. ALTA represents roughly 6,000 title insurance companies, title and settlement agents, and real estate attorneys. Compromised data includes title and settlement companies’ usernames, passwords, IP addresses, and domain identification believed to have been obtained through a phishing campaign. The ALTA IT department is analyzing records and will reach out to the impacted companies as research continues. Companies that patron ALTA are advised to monitor operating systems and inform their IT department and the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) of any suspicious activity. Users can refer to the Cyware article and updated ALTA alert for further information.
